Q: What is
PAIN SCORING?
A: Pain scoring is now mandatory in human hospitals, where pain is
considered the "5th vital sign". We are using pain scoring more and more inpets, using a 4 point (none, mild, moderate or severe) or a 10 point
scale.
Q: What is
BODY CONDITION SCORING?
A: This system scores a pet's body weight. AS with pain scoring, there is a
simpler 5 point scale (very thin, thin, normal, heavy, very heavy), and a
more detailed 9 point scale.
Q: What is
BODY MAPPING?
A: This is when we note a patient's lumps or lesions, by location and size,
on a line drawing of the pet. This lets us track the growth or development
of warts, tumors or scars. some older dogs have twenty or more lumps to keep
tract of!
